Biography
Andy Tomat is a board director, governance leader, and corporate development executive with more than three decades of experience guiding organizations through major acquisitions, divestments, and exits.

Andy has a proven track record of success in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and strategic growth initiatives in industrial technology, automation, robotics, and AI-driven markets. Andy brings a balanced perspective spanning governance, financial oversight, and long-range strategic planning for public companies, private firms, early-stage ventures, and nonprofit organizations.
Early in his career, he held senior technology leadership roles with Perkin-Elmer, Peerless Systems and Canon, earning multiple patents for imaging and software innovations. Andy went on to serve as Head of Corporate Development at Teradyne, a Fortune 500 industrial technology and automation company. With disciplined evaluation of risk, value, and strategic fit, he led acquisitions that expanded the company into high-growth wireless test and collaborative robotics markets. These transactions contributed to significant increases in profitability and market capitalization.
Throughout his career, Andy has applied a strong data-informed, objective viewpoint that proves valuable during acquisitions, investment reviews, and strategy shifts. As Partner at AllBera, he provides strategic advisory and corporate development support to European family-owned industrial manufacturers expanding into the US market via M&A, partnerships, investments, and market entry strategies across industrial technology sectors. He led cross-border diligence and partner-readiness assessments, aligning operational, financial, and product capabilities with US market expectations to enhance strategic fit and acquisition success.
As Managing Director of Four Pillars, Andy oversees a multidisciplinary diligence and advisory practice that supports buyers, sellers, founders, and investors. With a stellar ability to translate due diligence insights into board decision-making and risk evaluation, he influences business, financial, technical, and legal activities for organizations preparing for investment, acquisition, sale, or succession. His practical approach and transparent, collaborative style help leadership teams accelerate deal timelines, mitigate risk, and capture long-term value.
Andy is a NACD-certified board director and an AMAA-certified M&A Advisor. He earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut School of Business and his BA in Physics and Mathematics from Cornell University. Andy’s experience across M&A, technology, finance, governance, and strategic planning provides boards with a cross-disciplinary perspective.
He brings significant governance and advisory experience across nonprofit, private, and venture-backed organizations, including roles as director, secretary, audit chair, and treasurer. His board service includes the Diocesan Investment Trust, the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, and OnSight Technology. He also serves in governance-intensive interim CFO roles, guiding companies through financial restructuring, sale preparation, and investor reporting.
